The Perfect Time

When I got home from that trip I was kicking myself. Why did I let her show him. It may not be the perfect time for a horse but I don't know that their ever will be.... I've waited over 20 years for that time to come....
So I found out that the other people had until Wednesday to make their decision...and I waited (I'm not good at that but that's a topic for another day)
I made pony cookies for him (and took a horrible photo)....and then Wednesday night I got this message.....

The other people really like him but I would rather sell him to you and continue his training. so what do you say? you still in??:-) I just feel in my heart this is the best thing!  I just feel like he needs you and you need him right now:-)

I think I just got a fantastic horse with an awesome trainer to boot!
His name is Rogue Dancer and together we are Going Rogue!

Dreams vs Fear

<- So I had to decide this....

The next time I went out Dancer had rolled in the mud.....(I think he looks embarrassed)
But that didn't change how the ride went. He was still such a gentlemen....

Not me.....but only one of his first few times jumping....
I left for a trip that weekend the next day and my trainer asked me if she could show him to someone else over the weekend. Wanting the big guy to have the best home I said yes......

The Begining...

<-  I try to always believe that...and sometimes it true...

It all started with a post on Facebook.....

Anyone interested in two very nice sound and sane OTTB's? One is very sweet refined bay 3yr old filly with impeccable breeding. One is 4yr old Dark Steel Grey gelding with lazyish warmblood personality. These horses must move ASAP or will head to Los Alamitos track (which is not a good place to be). Message me for more details. I can help with retraining! Cheap, sound and sane!!

I was interested in the grey. He sounded cool and if I sponsored him he might turn into a nice horse. So  after getting the SO's ok....I responded...

He was sold before I could "make up my mind" haha

BUT

There was another horse in the barn..... His name is Dancer and he needs a home by the end of May.
Super sane, quiet, 60 days training, do I want to come meet him?

What could meeting him hurt, right?

Cute face right? But boring bay is not what I wanted....

I mean completely bay....not even a speck of white....
But a great mind, athletic and just a super sweet guy.....
So I took a ride.
Such a great guy. Five years old and already taking care of me! (which is a big deal to me)
and I went home to think about it....

Going Rogue

Hi my name is Sheila and I've been flying horseless for a long time. By this I mean I've been riding over 20 years and never really owned my own horse.
I got the horse bug when I was 7. My silly parents thought it would be fun to let me ride the their friends horse a little bit. I'm sure they regret that now. I was hooked. I begged for more.
They found a teenager with two horses and they let us go out on trail rides. Looking back I can't imagine how I survived. Knowing nothing and racing down the trails with no helmets but I did and it eventually led to lessons when the girl moved.
Lessons of course turned into working at the barn which was fantastic until my parents decided it was too much of a hassle to drive me that far all the time. Sigh......
So I joined the local 4-H program. After the club cycled through a few crazy leaders we finally got a good one......And I met the love of my life.. Meet Charlie.
He was 23 when I met him and had been a champion hunter/jumper back in his day. Still had enough in him to teach me. I rode him until I left for college. He passed during my first year back at school while I was home on break. I think he waited for me to come home and say goodbye.

College was pretty horseless aside from three quarters. Two I took some western riding classes and one I got to take an english riding class.

After college I moved to Napa and started riding/ working for an eventing barn. I fell in love with the sport and with this guy.
That's Pluto. He's pretty cool but one of the problems with flying horseless is when you have to move barns (or the barn moves away) the horse doesn't go with you. Miss that guy.

Never fear though. I've decided to quit flying horseless. Instead I'm Going Rogue!
